The special mission heavy variable fighter VF-171 is the successor to the VF-17, which was active in both "Macross F" and "Macross Delta;" the VF-171 is now available as a model kit from Wave in its New Unified Forces (Frontier Space Specification)! This kit snaps together for ease of assembly, and its 1/72-scale size puts it into the standard scale for aircraft models. Under the supervision of director Kawamori, the nose shape, which is different from that of the VF-171EX, and the shape of the fighter form has now been accurately reproduced in three dimensions.
