This is a die-cast metal and plastic display aircraft.
The SR-71A 61-7972 was used as a Skunk Works test aircraft until 1990, after 61-7955 retired in 1985, as can be seen from the tail logo. In 1974, it set a flight record from New York to London of 1 hour, 54 minutes (the supersonic passenger jet Concorde could make the same flight in 2 hours, 55 minutes). This aircraft is currently on display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Annex, and is considered one of the best examples of a preserved SR-71.
