Description

This is a spacecraft model.

This kit from Mikro Mir is a completely new mold! The Silbervogel ("silver bird") was a manned spaceplane conceived by space rocket researcher Eugene Sanger in Germany's bomber project during World War II. It had the characteristics of a lifting body, and its takeoff was to be accelerated by a rocket sled using a single rail with a total length of 3km, and take off at Mach 1.5. After takeoff, it would be accelerated by a rocket motor, and after reaching an altitude of about 160km and a speed of about 5,000km/h, it would be possible to obtain thermosphere and lift. It was supposed to be able to reach the opposite side of the Earth. The plan was to drop a 300kg bomb when approaching the target, and land on a German island in the Pacific Ocean or an area occupied by its ally Japan. The aircraft was planned to be manned, but there were still many issues such as the problem of G forces at launch, the impact of the sonic boom on the aircraft before takeoff, and the problem of aerodynamic heating due to the flight trajectory. Although there are no records of any of these problems being solved, the U.S. and the Soviet Union brought the technology created by this plan back after World War II, and sublimated it into a hypersonic gliding missile that is still under research and development.

This model kit comes with decals for one version, plus a three-dimensional waterslide decal for the instrument panel. Order yours today!
