This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The S.55 is a twin-boom flying boat developed by Savoia-Marchetti of Italy, making its first flight in 1924. Originally developed as a military aircraft, it was also produced for civilian use, and operated on Mediterranean routes until 1932. With a unique layout that stores passengers and cargo in a twin-layered hull and places the cockpit in the thick wing between the two hulls, the aircraft featured a twin-engine set up with a push-pull that is placed back and forth with an engine rack on top of the wing. The tail, supported by two trusses extending from the hull, had a rudder between it and two vertical stabilizers. The S.55A is a military version equipped with two high-powered Fiat A.22R engines, with 560 horsepower, and 16 of this version were produced.
This model kit from Dora Wings has a newly molded twin-body hull and cockpit canopy; decals for four versions (Italian Air Force minister Italo Balbo, Italian Air Force x2, and Romanian Navy), painting mask seals, a resin A.22R engine and photo-etched parts are also included. Order yours today!
