The AN/APS-154 (AAS) (AAS: Advanced Airborne Sensor) is a next-generation maritime surveillance and reconnaissance radar that is the successor to the APS-149LSRS (Coastal Surveillance Radar System) currently installed on some P-3Cs, and is a system that provides military commanders with highly accurate battlefield situation information. The system installed in this under-fuselage pod consists of a double-sided active electronically scanned array radar, a synthetic aperture radar, and an inverse synthetic aperture radar; it can monitor, identify, and track multiple targets with photo-like radar data in all weather conditions. It is also said to be able to track submerged submarines.
