The PSN-2 is a guided glider torpedo prototyped in the Soviet Union in the late 1930s. Since the 1920s, various countries had conducted research to significantly extend the range of torpedoes by launching glide torpedoes with small wings from aircraft; in the Soviet Union, unmanned gliders equipped with torpedoes were being used. A plan was devised to guide the glider remotely and drop unguided torpedoes when approaching the target. The plan was to guide the glider suspended on the TB-3 or DB-3 bomber with an infrared, wireless "Kvant" autopilot system, and after sighting an enemy ship up to 40km away, the aircraft would automatically land on the surface of the water. To develop this guided glider torpedo, a manned prototype was first tested to judge the glider's maneuverability and the "Kvant" autopilot system. Although the PSN-2 was successfully tested in manned conditions, development of the autopilot system was difficult and the plan was canceled in 1940, before the start of the German-Soviet War.

This model kit represents the manned prototype used for testing. The torpedo is mounted under the fuselage (the dolly with wheels shown on the package art is not included in the kit). Decals and photo-etched parts are included. Order yours now!
