This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The Messerschmitt M.23 was a two-seat sports aircraft designed by the German aircraft designer Willy Messerschmitt in the 1920s. In Europe at the time, aircraft engine manufacturers would independently organize air races, restricted to aircraft powered by their own engines, as a way to showcase their technical prowess. Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (BFW), the company where Willy Messerschmitt worked, designed the M.23 to accommodate various engines so it could compete in these manufacturer-sponsored events; the aircraft went on to win numerous prestigious races.
This 1/72-scale model kit from Avis features new tooling to accurately reproduce the M.23b variant, powered by a Cirrus engine. Decals for two versions of the "Bismarck" -- an aircraft privately owned by Alexander von Bismarck -- representing its participation in the Challenge 1929 International Touring Aircraft Competition (specifically the 1928 and 1929 events) -- are included.
