This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The AM-1 Mauler is a carrier-based attack aircraft developed by the U.S. Martin company and operated by the U.S. Navy. In response to the development plan for a multipurpose bomber requested by the U.S. Navy in the early 1940s, Martin prototyped the XBTM-1 and signed a development contract in 1944; the aircraft flew for the first time in August of the same year. Deployed as the AM-1 in 1948, this machine was able to fly with a maximum payload of 4,830kg as a single-engine aircraft; pilots nicknamed it "Able Mabel," a play on "AM." However, because the deployment time overlapped with that of the Douglas A-1 Skyraider, all aircraft were assigned to the Navy Reserve Unit when production ended, and they were retired in 1953.
This model kit from Modelsvit features bombs, rockets and pylons required for each weapon; it also comes with a Curtiss Electric propeller and spinner, which were present on the early-model Mauler. The kit's parts are old SIGA/ACE injection parts; photo-etched parts, a new injection canopy, a painting mask sticker and decals for three versions are also included. Place your order today!
