This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The landing craft was developed as a small ship for landing troops and vehicles on the coastline. During World War II, various types were developed and used by various countries; the U.S. military's LCM (Landing Craft Mechanized) is one of the more prominent types. Variations from LCM(1) to LCM(8) were made; this LCM(3) had the capacity to store one 30-ton, 15m long tank, or 60 soldiers. It was widely used in the Normandy landing operation and island landing operations in the Pacific.
This kit from Dragon features the LCM(3) World War II landing craft operated by the U.S. Army, and an M4A1 Sherman tank. The LCM(3) features its characteristic shallow, flat hull suitable for landing, and also a detailed wheelhouse with an armored cabin and cargo space where soldiers and vehicles were carried. The landing gate can be opened and closed.
The included M4A1 Sherman tank features a realistic shape and a slide-molded turret, as well as snorkel parts for the air supply and exhaust port, and a deep-water wading kit to allow the tank to maneuver in water up to 1 meter deep is also included with photo-etched parts. DS tracks are also included. This set also includes three obstacles made with rails, placed on the Normandy coastline by the German Army.
