This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
The T-2 was an advanced trainer aircraft that trained many of the elite pilots of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) who defend the skies of Japan. It was the first supersonic aircraft developed in Japan; its first flight was in 1971, it entered service in 1974, and it remained in active service until 2006. It was powered by two TF40-IHI-801A turbofan engines manufactured by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries, boasting a maximum speed of Mach 1.6. It was divided into two models: an early model used for training in the Basic Combat Pilot Course, which lacked armaments, and a later model used for training in the subsequent Combat Pilot course. The later model was equipped with a cannon and other equipment. It is said that 1,450 pilots had trained on the T-2 by the time it was retired. This is a masterpiece aircraft that developed many skilled pilots.
This 1/72-scale model kit of the JASDF's T-2 advanced trainer aircraft from Platz includes decals for four versions of specially painted aircraft that were shown at air shows held at various bases. The aircraft is modeled after the later model equipped with a Vulcan cannon. Each part is reproduced in detail, down to the panel lines, realistically recreating the aircraft's sharp shape. The fine details such as the interior of the two-seater cockpit and landing gear components are meticulously modeled to enhance the realism of the finished item.
The decals include the special-livery aircraft produced by the 22nd Squadron to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the unit's founding in 1998, the 22nd Squadron's special livery aircraft unveiled at the Matsushima Air Base Air Show in 1997, the Gifu Flight Development and Experimental Wing's exhibition aircraft unveiled at the Komaki Air Base Air Show in 1994, and the markings of the 8th Squadron of the 3rd Air Wing at Misawa Air Base in 1987. The decals are made by Cartograf for the highest quality! Place your order today!
