This is an aircraft model kit assembled from parts made of wood, white metal, photo-etched metal and possibly other materials.
The Kawasaki Ki-78 Ken III was a speed research aircraft known as the "Fastest Wing in Japan," developed by the Japanese Army during World War II. Its compact and sharp style was designed specifically for speed, and it made its first flight in December of 1942. On December 27, 1943, it recorded a speed of 699.9km/h. Unfortunately, the pressures of the war brought the project to a halt, and only a single example of this aircraft was ever completed.
Film of this aircraft in flight has recently been discovered at the National Science Museum in Tokyo, and this kit from Platz was created with this film in mind. The decals reproduce the characters "humana" on its flaps as confirmed in the film. The body is made of high quality urethane resin, with an integrally molded fuselage and main wing and a transparent urethane windshield. The propellers and landing gear are made of precision-cast white metal; plastic parts are provided by Anrimi. The decals are high-quality silkscreen printed. This amazing kit deserves a place in your collection -- order it today!
