Description

This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.

The Fw190A was an excellent fighter aircraft; however, its heart, the air-cooled radial engine BMW 801, loses power rapidly at altitudes above 6,000 to 7,000 meters. Therefore, several improvements were proposed. The D type is equipped with a liquid-cooled 12-cylinder engine, the Jumo 213A-1. The nose and rear fuselage were also lengthened, and the vertical stabilizer was increased. There is also a supercharger air intake protruding from the right side of the nose. The radiator, which is essential for a liquid-cooled engine, was placed in a ring at the front of the engine to avoid increasing air resistance, and it also had the effect of limiting modifications to the nose of the aircraft as much as possible. The Fw190D-11 was equipped with an improved Jumo 213E or Jumo 213F engine and a new VS10 propeller. A Garland Haube canopy was standard equipment. The nose armament was abolished; the inner wing was equipped with two MG151/20 20mm cannons, and the outer wing carried two MK108 30mm cannons. It was developed around the same time as the D-9, and although it made its first flight on August 31, 1944, production was limited to a small number due to delays in the development of the Jumo 213F.
