1/72 scale German Army command armored car Sd.Kfz.247 Ausf.B 4 Rad active on the Eastern Front
Canvas cover and interior also reproduced
The Sd.Kfz.247 Ausf.B (4 Rad type) was produced in 58 units between 1941 and 1942 by Daimler Benz using the Horch Typ 1c standard chassis with 4 wheels and rear wheel drive on 2 wheels.
It was equipped with a Horch 801 water cooled V8 gasoline engine with 81hp, had a top speed of about 80 km/h and a range of about 400 km on paved roads. Crew of 6. Armor thickness 6 to 8 mm. Compared with the earlier 6 wheel Ausf.A it was lighter and more maneuverable. Later versions added a pintle mount for the MG34/42 machine gun.
It was mainly used on the Eastern Front with some also confirmed in Normandy.
Due to the lack of radio equipment its function as a command vehicle was limited but it still held value as a safe transport for high ranking officers.
