Description

This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.

The Ordnance QF 6-pounder is an anti-tank gun developed by the United Kingdom in the early days of World War II. The gun was also installed in tanks in the middle of the war, and the U.S. military officially adopted it as an M1 57mm gun and produced it under license. The British Army, who thought that the 2-pounder gun would become obsolete in the not-too-distant future, began developing large-caliber anti-tank guns in 1938, and in 1940 the gun body was completed; completion of the mount was delayed until the following year. The British initially planned to update the QF 2-pounder from time to time, but they abandoned almost all heavy weapons when they withdrew from Dunkirk, and the Germans landed on the British mainland. As a result of prioritizing the reorganization of the army, production of 2-pound guns continued, with production of 6-pound guns frozen in November 1941, and deployment not started until May 1942.

The QF 6-pounder gun mount uses legged guns, which are very common, and the initial production barrel height was a highly productive 43 caliber, but the attack power increased with the strengthening of the armor on German tanks. Therefore, from the Mk.IV, they started to use a 50-caliber barrel with a muzzle brake. However, since the Tiger I and Panther could not compete with each other, further performance improvement repairs were planned, but due to the extreme weight increase and low performance improvement, all plans were canceled in January 1943. In February 1943, a more powerful 17-pounder unit was deployed, but operation of the QF 6-pounder was continued through the Korean War and the Second Middle East War due to its light weight; it was retired in 1960.

This model kit comes with 43-caliber long-barrel parts for the Mk.II, 50-caliber long parts for the Mk.IV, early and late-type shield parts and photo-etched parts to assist building this kit into the early type or the Mk.IV late type. Order yours today!
