This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
Tirpitz was the largest battleship of the Kriegsmarine during World War 2. Sister ship to Bismarck, and named after WW1 Admiral Alfred von Tirpitz, the ship was completed by Kriegsmarine Werft Wilhelmshaven in Germany, and was launched on 1 April 1939. In January 1942, Tirpitz left Germany for Norway, where it would lead fearsome attacks on Allied convoys hauling supply cargoes to Allied forces in Russia. Norwegian sailors would call Tirpitz the “Lonely Queen of the North” as by itself it posed a constant threat to Allied convoys in the Barents Sea. The demise of Tirpitz was preceded by many operations and years of preparations, involving a combination of brute force attacks, from the sky and below the waves, as well as more cunning attempts to sink it using the latest advances in military technology. A struggle lasting almost until the end of the war, Tirpitz became a thorn in the side of every Allied captain in the region, until finally being sunk on November 12 1944 by an RAF aerial attack.
