From the manufacturer:
Wasp was the final aircraft carrier produced under the Washington Naval Treaty as the U.S. was still permitted 15,000t to build a carrier at the time. She was laid down in April 1936 at the Fore River Shipyard, and commissioned in April 1940 at the Army Quartermaster Base. In 1942, the British Empire was waging in North Africa against Italian forces and their German allies. Malta was a critical component to this campaign, as the island could be used as a resupply base for Axis forces operating in North Africa. Wasp joined the British Home Fleet in April 1942 and twice ferried British fighter aircraft to Malta.
Parts come molded in grey plastic. This kit depicts the USS Wasp as she appeared on her ferry mission to Malta in 1942. Includes 1/700 scale spitfire fighter aircraft. A real treat for fans of the Royal Navy and US Navy alike!
