This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
USS Independence was an aircraft carrier operated by the United States Navy during World War II and the lead ship of the Independence-class carriers.
This fourth ship to bear the name Independence was originally laid down as a light cruiser, but at the order of President Roosevelt, her construction was converted to that of a light aircraft carrier.
With a sleek hull inherited from her cruiser origins and powerful engines, Independence boasted excellent speed and played a vital role as part of the fast carrier task forces.
The kit features an injection-molded plastic body. The "Standard Version" includes decals, while the "Deluxe Version" adds photo-etched parts, metal components, deck masking seals, and more on top of the standard content.
A finely detailed kit that beautifully reproduces Independence as a waterline model.
