Description

This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.


The light cruiser Houston was commissioned in 1943 as a Cleveland-class light cruiser. Originally laid down as the Vicksburg, it was renamed Houston in honor of the heavy cruiser Houston, which was lost in the Battle of Sunda Strait in 1942.

During the war, it served in the Pacific theater and sustained damage from a torpedo hit during the Taiwan Operation in October 1944. After returning to Ulithi Atoll for emergency repairs, it did not return to the front lines as the war ended while it was undergoing repairs at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Houston was awarded three battle stars for its service during World War II.

This "Deluxe Version" (DX) comes with additional etched parts, metal gun barrels, and deck mask seals, in addition to the contents of the "standard version." It's a fantastic kit that accurately reproduces the appearance of Houston in 1944 with intricate details.
