This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The Cleveland class was the most-built cruiser during World War II, with 27 completed. The Cl-55 U.S.S. Cleveland was an improved version of the earlier Brooklyn class, and it was completed in June 1942. Its relatively compact structure and enhanced anti-aircraft armament give it a smart impression; those built in the first half of the run had a rounded front bridge. The Cleveland was put into service immediately after commissioning, and she took part in the battle during which the Japanese Navy's destroyers Murasame and Minegumo were sank.
This kit duplicates the earlier version of the Cleveland-class ships with the rounded front to the bridge; two OSU Kingfisher observer planes are also included. Photo-etched parts are included for the catapult, jib crane, onboard crane, STG, SC-1, Mk.12 radar, OS2U propeller and more. The kit can be built as a waterline or full-hull version, and ship name decals for seven different members of the Cleveland class are included too (CL-55 Cleveland, CL-56 Colombia, CL-57 Montpelier, CL-58 Denver, CL-60 Santa Fe, CL-62 Birmingham, CL-63 Mobile).
