This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The USS Caldwell (DD-605) was commissioned in 1942 as the 18th Benson-class ship, and was immediately deployed to the Pacific front. Like the Benson, she had a chimney with a square cross-section, but her rear torpedo tubes and third turret have been removed to strengthen her anti-aircraft armament. The Caldwell was damaged by an attack off Leyte Gulf in December of 1944, and in June of the following year she was struck by a lightning strike in Brunei Bay.
This model kit from Pit-Road can be built as a waterline or full-hull version; parts for the bridge structure, gun mount, life raft rack and more are included. Photo-etched parts are included for the Mk.12, Mk.22, SC-4, SA, SG various radars, 20mm single machine gun, 5-inch single gun semi-enclosed cover, depth charge drop rack, depth charge projector, mast generator rack, torpedo director, torpedo loading cranes, searchlight mounts, life raft racks, bridge lower handrails, vertical radars, mastyards, etc. Order yours today!
