Description
This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The Blue Ridge, an amphibious command ship, was commissioned in November 1970 to serve as a vessel with integrated command and control functions for versatile and complex amphibious operations. To avoid radio interference in various communication systems, it adopted a high-freeboard, aircraft carrier-type hull based on the Iwo Jima-class amphibious assault ship.
Since October 1979, it has been the flagship of the Seventh Fleet, stationed in Yokosuka. Despite being over 50 years old, the Blue Ridge is the oldest active ship in the U.S. fleet and is expected to remain operational until 2039.
