This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The Saratoga was originally laid down as a battlecruiser in September 1920. However, due to the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922, which imposed restrictions on the number of capital ships a nation could possess, it was converted into an aircraft carrier. The second ship of the Lexington-class aircraft carriers, she was commissioned in November 1927.
Upon her commissioning, the Lexington-class carriers became the world's largest aircraft carriers at the time. With a long hull based on the design of battlecruisers, they boasted high-speed capabilities and a powerful air group of 90 aircraft, including open-deck arresting gear.
Features of this 1/700 scale plastic model include:
Representing the Saratoga in her pre-World War II configuration as of 1936, equipped with four 20.3cm twin turrets and twelve 12.5cm single high-angle guns.
