The Russian Typhoon-class submarines are the largest subs ever built, over 175 meters long and displacing 26,000 tons. A total of six subs were built, each capable of carrying 20 R-39 multiple warhead nuclear missiles. Only one remains in service with the Russian Navy today.

Hobby Boss' new Typhoon-class sub can be built as a full-hull or waterline model (not mentioned in the instructions, but that's how the hull is split. You just need to chop off the connecting pegs), with a nice stand with printed name for the full-hull model. Includes retracted or deployed sensor array on the conning tower and forward dive planes. The box erroneously states that the kit "contains plastic parts for two boats," but there are only enough parts included to build one complete sub. Perhaps they were referring to the two version choices (surfaced or submerged).
