This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The Type 42 Sheffield Class is the Royal Navy's guided-missile destroyer, built from the 1970s to the 1980s, and active until the 2000s. Developed with the main mission of air defense of the fleet, a total of 14 ships were built and deployed. The first was the H.M.S. Sheffield, commissioned in 1975; the final ship in this class was commissioned in 1985. She was equipped with one 55-caliber 114mm single gun, one Sea Dart GWS.30 anti-aircraft missile double launcher, and two STWS Mk.1/triple single torpedo launchers. Seven ships participated in the Falklands War that broke out in 1982. The H.M.S. Sheffield and H.M.S. Glasgow were able to help resolve the conflict, although the Sheffield was sunk after being struck by an Argentine air-to-ground missile.
This full-hull model kit can be assembled as either the H.M.S. Sheffield or the Hercules. It features delicate modeling of the superstructures such as the bridge and mast, as well as the missiles installed on the deck and turret of the 4.5-inch gun. Photo-etched parts are included for details such as the antennas and handrails; a Westland Lynx onboard helicopter is also included. Place your order today!
