This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The I-13 type (A-type modified 2) is a similar type to the I-12 type (A-type modified 1), with a simplified engine of the I-9 type (A-type) built as a flagship submarine equipped with a surface reconnaissance machine. It was intended to be a guard ship. However, the number of submersible I-400 special submarine types was reduced due to the shortage of materials during the war, and the design was significantly changed so that two surface attack aircraft of the Hararashi the could be installed to compensate for this. The bridge was moved to the left side of the larger vault, and is equipped with an injection machine and a large crane that conforms to the special submarine type. In addition, repairs such as installing a bulge on the hull to ensure restoration against the increased amount of drainage was carried out; the I-13 was put into service in December 1944, and the I-14 went into service in March 1945. The two ships, I-13 and I-14, disassembled and transported the onboard reconnaissance aircraft Ayakumo in preparation for the US MTF attack on Urushi Atoll by the I-400 and I-401 submarines, and set sail for the truck base for the purpose of reconnaissance there. The I-14 arrived safely, but I-13 went missing and ended the war without realizing the Urushi attack.
This model kit from Pit-Road includes parts for both the I-13 and the I-14, and can be built as a full-hull or waterline version. Includes two of the Hararashi and one of the Ayakumo are included; two display stands are included. Photo-etched parts are also included for the hidden mirror, vertical ladder, gliding trolley, storage cylinder door handle, antenna support, propeller guard, life-saving float, ship-mounted propellers and more.
