This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
Fujimi adds the IJN light cruiser Sakawa to their lineup! The Sakawa was the fourth Agano-class ship to be built at the Sasebo Naval Arsenal in November 1942, and she was completed in November 1944, at the end of the war. The Agano class was planned as a torpedo squadron flagship, and features a modern appearance and armament that distinguishes it from the previous 5,500-ton class. Its main guns were three 15cm twin guns, and two newly developed long 8cm twin high-angle guns. She was completed the month after the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and the Combined Fleet was unable to carry out organized operations. She moved from Sasebo to Kure and engaged in training in the western part of the Utsumi Sea, but there were no opportunities for her to play an active role. After the war, she traveled abroad as a demobilization ship, and in July 1946, she served as an atomic bomb test ship at Bikini Atoll and sank.
Fujimi's model kit of the Sakawa reproduces her appearance equipped with No. 21, 22, and 13 electric probes at the time of her completion. Her modern shape, very different from that of other Japanese light cruisers at the time, is completely reproduced. This full-hull model kit includes a base is included for display after completion. The 25mm continuous machine gun includes both conventional one-piece structure parts and more precise two-piece parts. The gunmetal of the barrel and the hull color of the base are painted separately for ease of assembly. Two types of decals are included for the warship flag, the rising sun flag, and the markings for the carrier-based aircraft. Order yours today!
