1/700 Special 17 Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Amagi

Introducing new parts for the distinctive "Unryu-class second ship Amagi," designed with simplified construction for mass-production medium carriers during wartime!

The product is modeled after its appearance at the time of completion in August 1944.
It replicates features different from the first ship Unryu, such as the square gun mounts and the enlarged bridge rear, which were simplified for construction.
To standardize the representation of equipment variations based on the release timing, new design parts have been prepared, with some parts designed for easy painting.
- The Type 13 radar features a truss structure with sculpted details, and the aerial part also showcases shape representation in newly included parts.
- The Type 21 Model 6 radar for the bridge and the insulator base for the front elements are represented with delicate sculpting, unlike conventional included parts.
- The 12.7cm twin high-angle gun A1 Mod 1 is broken down into 6 parts to enhance molding resolution compared to the existing 2-part version.
- The 9-meter cutter is split into 2 parts for painting considerations, with a separate part for the mounting frame, allowing choice between a single molded deck and a separate part.
- The 12-meter inshore boat has its canvas, steering room, and engine room canopy as separate parts for painting considerations.
Each part is designed for painting and assembly adhesion afterward.
- The boat's main body and loading floor are separated into 3 parts, allowing for post-paint assembly with no need for masking.
- The 12-meter inshore launch can also be represented without a canvas.
- The onboard boat rack features molded contours and light holes, enhancing the precision of the design.
- The chrysanthemum emblem on the bow is newly prepared.
- A pair of navigational lights, previously omitted in the design, is included as additional parts.
- Decals including the ship's name on the stern (in military color) are added.
- The Type 96 25mm triple mount/ single mount machine guns come as a standard 2-part assembly reducing painting/separation work.
- Four types of aircraft (Zero Fighter Model 52, Type 21 (bomb equipped), Type 99 bomber Model 22, and Tenzan torpedo bomber) are included, with 6 of each type.

- The hull is composed of left and right halves.
- The portholes on the side reflect a reduced state based on wartime experience.
- The anchor chain deck at the bow features a non-slip strip pattern, with bulwarks and hawser reels sculpted as a single piece.

- The flight deck is a single-piece construction, with the elevator as a separate part.
- The surface is sculpted with various details, including aircraft arrestor rings, landing stop lines, and expansion joints.
- Windbreak fences are represented with sculpting on the flight deck.
- The concealed Type 21 radar and two concealed searchlights on the flight deck can be assembled in either stowed or deployed states.
- The elevator can be assembled in either the raised state or lowered into the hangar.
- The truss structure on the underside of the flight deck is represented in three-dimensional sculpting.
- The crane on the flight deck is designed to be in a stowed position.

- The bridge base is a single molded part created using a sliding mold.
- The funnel consists of upper and lower split parts, with the internal guide plates as separate parts for added detail.
- The funnel cap is designed in a "removed" state for a more precise look.
- The bridge (air defense command center) includes precision binocular parts for enhanced detail.

- The side-mounted high-angle gun mounts and machine gun mounts are separate parts, with the floor strip pattern expressed in fine sculpture.
- The machine gun mounts and high-angle gun sponson supports are recreated as finely detailed molded parts.
- Various side-mounted equipment such as radio antennas and landing lights are separated into different parts.
- The 25mm triple mount machine guns come as a precise 2-part structure that simplifies painting and separation work, utilizing standard mold parts from 2018.

- Four types of carrier-based aircraft, six each, totaling 24 aircraft are included.
- The aircraft types are those held by the 601st Air Group after completion: "Zero Fighter Model 52," "Zero Fighter Model 21 (bomb equipped)," "Comet," and "Tenzan."
- The Zero Fighter Model 52 includes 4 aircraft, designed with separate parts for the canopy and propeller for painting considerations.
- The Zero Fighter Model 21 (bomb equipped) includes 4 aircraft, with separate parts for the wing drop tanks and a 250kg bomb under the fuselage.
- The Type 99 bomber Model 12 has a separate canopy, propeller, and 60kg bomb, designed for easy painting.
- The Tenzan torpedo bomber includes 4 aircraft, with separate parts representing the characteristic four-blade propeller and a 250kg bomb under the fuselage.

- The molded color for the main parts is a light green, considering the coloration during anti-submarine camouflage painting.
- Aircraft and machine gun parts are in gray.
The included decals are of two types:
- One sheet for the camouflage pattern on the flight deck and aircraft markings.
- One sheet for the ship's name on the stern and white lines for the posts.

Included Contents: 56 runners - Assembly instruction manual x1 - Decals x2

Please note that due to monitor and image resolution issues, colors may appear differently from the actual product.
