Yukikaze was the 8th ship of the Kagero class destroyers and was commissioned in January 1940 at Sasebo Naval Arsenal. From the beginning of the Pacific War it participated in operations in the western Pacific area and returned almost unscathed each time, so it was called the lucky ship. In Operation Tenichi Go it joined the Okinawa special attack with battleship Yamato. While many ships were sunk or heavily damaged Yukikaze survived without damage. After the war it served as a repatriation transport ship. In 1947 it was handed over to the Republic of China as a war reparation ship and was commissioned as Tanyan. In 1971 it was dismantled due to aging.
