This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.

Fujimi's 1/700-scale Imperial Navy Series Japanese Navy Heavy Cruiser Myoko now includes photo-etched parts! This kit features the Myoko, the first Myoko-class ship, in her appearance at the start of the war (1941 - ), during the Battle of the Philippine Sea (1943-44), or during the Battle of Leyte Gulf (October 1944). The hull features a one-piece construction with the port and starboard sides molded as a single unit, allowing for more stable assembly than glued-together assemblies. The upper deck is a single piece, while the forward and shelter deck sections are separate parts, and the rear section is integrated with the hull. Decals include naval ensigns and aircraft markings. The photo-etched parts allow for a level of fine detail that is difficult to reproduce with injection parts. The photo-etched parts include various handrails, outboard cable runs, ladders, watertight doors, boat davits, cranes, catapults, turret heat sinks, gangway ladders, chimney areas, jack stays, mastyards, loop antennas, lighting base trusses, anti-slip gun mounts, gun mount sponsons, Type 2 Type 1 radar, Type 1 Type 3 radar, single machine gun, pedestal, runways, aircraft transport dolly, and reels. 

The kit features a full hull that can be reproduced down to the bottom of the ship, and comes with a base for display after completion. The 25mm machine guns include both the traditional one-piece structure and a more precise two-piece part. The 25mm machine guns are made in two pieces, making it easy to paint the gunmetal barrel and the hull color of the base differently.
