1/700 KanNEXT8EX-5 Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Shinano (Warship Color) with Etched Parts

Introducing the Japanese Navy's standard "warship color" specification, which was never actually painted, now available with etched parts!

- The product is modeled after the shape at the time of completion in November 1944, completely newly designed and molded in 2017.
- The hull is made from pre-colored parts that mimic the color of the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal (warship color).
- The hull and bottom parts are split at the waterline, allowing for the creation of both waterline models and full hull models.

While the real vessels are sister ships Yamato and Musashi, unique parts are used without sharing components to express their differences. The planned types of onboard aircraft are included. The hull is designed in a left-right split style, accurately reproducing the configuration around the bow's bell mouth. The openings on the side of the hull are represented using high-quality adhesive materials. The portholes lined along the side are intricately sculpted to depict both closed and open shapes.

The bottom part of the hull features a bulge shape that differs from Yamato. The parts are pre-colored in the hull color (red), eliminating the need for painting. Depending on the choice of this component, it can be finished as a waterline model or a full hull model. The rudder comes in two types: one shaped like the conventional Yamato and another round shape similar to the recently discussed aircraft carrier Taiho.

The flight deck consists of two pieces. The parts are divided into the concrete deck and the outer edge, optimized for painting expression. The concrete area is molded in a light gray color, which is brighter than the warship color.

The bridge utilizes a slide mold, forming a single part. All four sides feature detailed sculpting for a realistic appearance. The shape of the funnel and the structure near the rear boat deck are modeled based on recent research and documentation.

The high-angle gun mounts have a striped pattern, while the hangar walls feature intricate sculpting to enhance the density of the surfaces, which might otherwise appear monotonous. The folding radio antenna mast is movable, allowing for the recreation of launch scenes.

The onboard aircraft include four types: "Shiden Kai," "Ryusei," "Saiun," and "Sakura." The Shiden Kai is reproduced in two colors: the common dark green and a prototype version in orange. The legs of the Ryusei, Saiun, and Shiden Kai are molded as a single piece, with additional finely detailed separate parts for the legs provided.

The included stickers are specially designed to match the concrete flight deck, differing from conventional products. The stickers include canvas coverings on the sides, linoleum on the bridge floor, and white lines on the flight deck, allowing for color representation without painting. Additionally, a decal sheet is included for those who wish to finish with paint, containing white lines for the flight deck and Hinomaru for the aircraft. As a bonus, adhesive "horizontal binoculars" and "machine gun ammunition boxes" are provided as finely detailed parts.

Etched parts capture the delicate fittings of the ship that cannot be expressed with injection parts. The etched parts include handrails, ladders, rattle, Type 13 radar, windbreaks, elevators, cranes, funnel caps, and aircraft propellers.
