This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
Fujimi's 1/700-scale model kit of the Japanese aircraft carrier Shinano with a concrete deck comes with photo-etched parts! This kit is based on her appearance when she was completed in November 1944; it was made into a model with a new mold and new design in 2017. The planned type of aircraft is included. The bottom and hull parts are divided at the waterline, so it can be built as either a full-hull or waterline version. The Shinano's sister ships are the Yamato and the Musashi, but in order to express the differences between them, special parts are used instead of shared parts.
The hull is divided into left and right halves, and the arrangement around the bow bellmouth is reproduced with accurate research. The anti-submarine camouflage paint on the side is expressed by dividing the plastic parts into different colors, and partially using a sealant with excellent tracking properties. The portholes lined up on the side are reproduced with delicate carvings to show the difference in shape between blocked and unblocked. The bottom of the ship reproduces a bulge shape that differs from that of the Yamato, and there are two types of rudders: a round shape similar to that of the Yamato in the conventional theory, and a round shape similar to that of the aircraft carrier Taiho, as has been said in recent years.
The flight deck is made of two pieces. The parts are divided at the concrete deck and the outer edge, making it optimal for painting. The bridge is made in one slide-molded piece, and all four sides are realistically sculpted. The chimney shape and the structure near the rear short boat deck are reproduced based on recent materials and research. The high-angle gun mount has a strip pattern, and the hangar wall has a monkey ladder, realizing a high-density model with fine carvings on surfaces that tend to be monotonous.
Four types of aircraft are included: Shiden Kai, Ryusei, Saiun and Ohka. The Shiden Kai is reproduced in two colors: the standard dark green, and the orange of the prototype Shiden Kai-2. The Ryusei, Saiun, and Shiden Kai have one-piece molded legs, but separate parts with even more detailed legs are also available. The retractable radio antenna support can be folded down, allowing you to recreate takeoff scenes.
Stickers are included with the anti-submarine camouflage on both sides and the white lines of the flight deck, allowing you to express color without painting. Decals are also included for the white lines of the flight deck and the Hinomaru flag of the aircraft on board.
As a bonus, adhesive horizontal binoculars and machine gun ammunition boxes are included for detailed finishing.
The delicate ship's equipment, which cannot be expressed with injection parts, is reproduced with photo-etched parts. Photo-etched parts include handrails, ladders, No. 13 radar, windbreak fences, elevators, cranes, chimney caps, airplane propellers, and more. The flight deck is molded in light gray that makes it look like concrete, and stickers are included. Order yours today!
