Description

This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.

The FFM-1 "Mogami" and FFM-2 "Kumano" were approved for construction in the fiscal year 2018 and are the latest type of escort ships specializing in mine warfare missions. These ships are equipped with advanced mine countermeasures, including a sonar for mine warfare, an autonomous underwater vehicle (UUV) for detecting mines, and an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) for mine disposal.

The ships also feature enhanced stealth capabilities, with most of their equipment installed inside the sloped sides of the hull. Notable design elements include the unique unicorn-shaped composite antenna and a four-faced multifunction radar mounted on a pyramidal mast, setting them apart from previous escort ships.

The FFM-1 "Mogami" was commissioned in April 2022, and the FFM-2 "Kumano" was commissioned in March of the same year.
