This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The I-400 submarine is the world's first submarine carrier equipped with attack aircraft, planned and built by the Japanese Navy at the end of World War II. It was an epoch-making ship with a huge hull, 122 meters long, equipped with three Seiran attack aircraft, and had a long cruising range capable of attacking the eastern coast of the United States. In July 1945, along with the cruiser and submarine type I-13 and I-14, which had been remodeled into attack aircraft-equipped ships, an attack squadron was fired, heading for the anchorage of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers at Ulithi Atoll, but the war ended before they reached their objective.
This model kit from Pit-Road can be built as a full-hull or waterline version; decals are included for the I-400 and I-401. Two Seiran special attack aircraft are included. Photo-etched parts for the conning tower deck, antenna strut, back of storage tube door, storage tube door handle, catapult pulley, ejection runway carriage, shipboard propeller, lifebuoy, periscope, vertical ladder, propeller guard and more are included too.
