Description

This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.

Ayanami was commissioned in April 1930 as the 11th ship of the Fubuki type (special type).

The standard displacement of the previous Mutsuki class was increased from a little over 1,300 tons to 1,680 tons, the number of torpedo tubes was increased from six to nine, and the main guns were strengthened from four 12cm single guns to six 12.7cm double guns.

This was far more powerful than the U.S. and British destroyers built at the same time.

The elevation angle of the main guns was raised to allow for anti-aircraft fire, and the bridge was enlarged, making it also known as the Special Type II.
