This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The Hatakaze, the first ship of her class, is a Japan Marine Self-Defense Force third-generation missile destroyer, and she entered service on March 27, 1986. This is the first missile escort ship to use gas turbine propulsion, and the standard missile launcher is now mounted on the bow rather than the stern, to more easily respond to aviation threats from the front. This is also the only destroyer equipped with bulwarks on the bow to protect the launcher. In March of 2020, the Hatakaze became a training ship.
This kit can be built as a full-hull or waterline version; it includes a satellite communication antenna on the underside of the hull, reproducing the Hatakaze's current state. Decals are included for new ship signs, walking zones, etc., and photo-etched parts are also included for the OPS-11 radar, front and rear masts, side ladder, main gun shell case, harpoon launch pad, folding SH-60 helicopter rotors, and more!
