This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.

Fujimi's outstanding full-hull model kit of the IJN aircraft carrier Akagi now comes with photo-etched parts! A base is included for display after completion; the lower part of the hull is composed of integrally molded parts, and the screw and rudder are separate parts. In addition to the parts included with the kit, precision parts for the 25mm machine guns (triple, tandem and single) with separate parts for the barrel and gun mount are included. The Type 96 25mm machine gun consists of two pieces; the gunmetal of the barrel and the hull color of the base are painted separately for ease of assembly. The carrier-based aircraft included with the kit are now molded in gray rather than clear plastic, too, and decals are included for the Hinomaru marking on the carrier plane, the white lines on the deck, and the national flag.
