Description
This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
HMS Chatham was a Type 22 Batch 3 (Cornwall-class) frigate of the Royal Navy and the final hull of the Type 22 frigate series
Commissioned in 1990, Chatham took part in Operation Sharp Guard in 1993 (maritime blockade of the former Yugoslavia), the intervention in the Sierra Leone Civil War in 2000, and the Iraq War in 2003. During the 1997 handover of Hong Kong, she was designated as the guard ship for the Royal Yacht Britannia carrying Prince Charles (at the time).
In 2010, she served as the flagship of Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 and was deployed off the coast of Somalia to protect aid shipments from pirates. The ship returned to Plymouth in 2011 and was decommissioned the same year, after which she was scrapped.
The kit includes 3D-printed parts, photo-etched parts, metal parts, and decals.
For modelers who wish to build and display the full hull, a display case with the lower hull of the Type 22 frigate and a Royal Navy placard is scheduled to be released simultaneously.
