This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
December 10, 1941 was a terrible day for the Royal Navy, as they lost both the battle cruiser Repulse and the battleship Prince of Wales to Japanese airpower during the Battle of Malaya. This was the first time in history that capital ships actively defending themselves on the open sea were sunk solely by airpower.
This set of ships and aircraft from Tamiya includes five of the ships of Force Z, the fleet entrusted to guard the waters south of the Malay Peninsula. The lineup of Tamiya's waterline models includes the British battle cruiser Repulse, the British battleship Price of Wales, the Royal Australian Navy destroyer Vampire, and the British E-class destroyers Electra and Express. The set also includes ten Type 1 "Betty" and nine Type 96 "Nell" attack bombers, the aircraft responsible for sinking the British warships. Bases with metal support rods are included for each aircraft.
