1/48 T-90A Main Battle Tank released by Takom/Uster
The T-90 is a third-generation main battle tank developed by the Soviet Union/Russia and officially adopted in 1992.
In the mid-1980s, the Soviet military was operating a high-low mix of the high-performance, high-cost T-80 and the less-performing but low-cost T-72, but the idea of unifying the two MBT systems with an improved T-72 emerged because it was inefficient to continue operating them.
In 1986, two types of MBTs were developed in parallel based on the T-72B: the Obyekt-187, a large-scale improved type, and the Obyekt-188, a simple improved type.
The T-90A is equipped with the newly designed "Vladimir" turret developed for the Obyekt 187, the main gun is a 55 caliber 125mm smoothbore gun 2A46M-5, and the engine is a V-92S2 engine, making it a vehicle with improved defense, attack, and mobility compared to the T-90.
