Description
This is a die-cast metal and plastic display aircraft kit that requires minor assembly.
The Hien (pronounced "hee-ehn") was the only Japanese fighter with a liquid-cooled engine to see service. It was a license-built German DB601, but maintenance problem severely limited the plane's effectiveness, though it was a fine fighter when it could get into the air.
Marushin's die-cast Hien comes about 80% assembled. It's all painted, you just need to attach the wings and tail planes, as well as most of the detail parts like exhaust pipes, canopy and landing gear, but it shouldn't even take 30 minutes to complete. Landing gear can be displayed raised or lowered (they don't deploy, but parts are included for both gear up and down positions). Engraved panel line detail throughout. Marked as an aircraft of the 2nd chutai of the 18th sentai, based at Chofu near Tokyo.
