This model kit was announced at the 63rd annual All Japan Model Hobby Show! Wingsy Kits brings us an all-new 1/48-scale Type 99 carrier-based dive bomber Aichi D3A2! The Imperial Japanese Navy's Type 99 carrier dive bomber was produced by Aichi Aircraft Corporation, and was active during the early to mid-Pacific War. The Model 22 was an improved version of the Model 11, official adopted in 1943. It featured a Venus Type 54 engine, a corresponding redesign of the engine cowling, the addition of a propeller spinner, improved aerodynamic performance through an extended rear movable windshield, and modifications to the swingarm and horizontal stabilizer. While these modifications reduced range, they improved speed, climbing ability, high-altitude performance, and bomb load.
This model kit from Wingsy marks the first-ever 1/48-scale injection kit of this aircraft! Photo-etched parts, paint mask stickers, and decals for four versions (one each for the aircraft carrier Jun'yo, Shokaku, USA Air Group, and 701st Air Group) are included.
