Tamiya brings back its 1/48 model kit of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.1! The Hurricane was developed by Hawker in the mid-1930s as Britain's first low-wing monoplane fighter, and along with the Spitfire it became the iconic aircraft representing the Royal Air Force of World War II. Its solid design featured a steel pipe upholstered structure at the rear of the fuselage, and contributed to its smooth mass-production. The first production Mk.I began deployment at the end of 1937; in the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940, the Spitfire attached the Messerschmitt Bf109s, while the Hurricane was active in intercepting German bombers. It was used in Finland in addition to England. In the later half of the war, it was effective as a fighter-bomber, and a total of about 15,000 of all its types were produced.
This model kit from Tamiya accurately reproduces the Hurricane's rugged appearance, with its thick main wing and the upholstered rear part of the fuselage. The cockpit interior is given a three-dimensional effect with photo-etched parts; the Marlin engine can be displayed by removing the cowling. Two types of spinners and propellers can be selected; two pilot figures and an officer figure are included. Decals are included for a total of six versions, including four from the Battle of Britain, as well as one from the Battle of Malta and a Finnish Air Force aircraft. Also included is a 36-page photo collection with both English and Japanese text! Order yours today!
