This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.
The F-CK-1 is a domestically produced fighter jet, nicknamed the Ching Kuo, developed by the Republic of China's state-owned aviation company AIDC (Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation) with technical assistance from several private U.S. companies. In 1998, AIDC carried out a small-scale upgrade to the existing Ching Kuo by equipping it with an integrated electronic warfare system, and in 2000, AIDC submitted a full-scale upgrade plan to the Taiwan Air Force, which included the avionics and FCS to enhance ground attack capabilities, improving the landing gear, and extending the range with conformal tanks. This upgrade plan was named the Ching Sheng Special Plan, and took seven years to develop, with a budget of NT$7 billion. With this modification, the maximum takeoff weight increased from 12,530kg to 18,000kg, the amount of fuel carried, including conformal tanks, increased from 2,111kg to 4,700kg, and the number of hard points on the main wing increased from 6 to 8. As a result of the increase in hard points, the number of engines carried by the Tenken 2 increased from two to four. The mission computer was also upgraded from a 16-bit to a 32-bit model. The first upgraded single-seater model made its first flight in October 2006, and the two-seater model successfully completed a test flight in March 2007; the upgraded type was named Yutaka.
This 1/48-scale model kit from Freedom Model Kits includes a metal pitot tube, conformal tank, air-to-air/ground missile, and drop tank parts. Painting mask stickers, decals, and photo-etched parts are also included. Order yours today!
