This is a spacecraft model.
On July 20, 1969, the Lunar Module "Eagle" landed on the Sea of Tranquility on the Moon. This was the first successful landing of humans on the moon; the spacecraft that supported this historic achievement are now part of a model kit from Dragon! This kit includes the Apollo 11 Command Service Module, Lunar Module and Launch Escape System.
The command module is known as "Colombia," and was launched on board a Saturn V rocket on July 16; piloted by Michael Collins, she orbited the Moon while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were collecting material on the surface of the Moon. The Lunar Module, known as "Eagle," was the part of the ship that actually landed on the Moon, and the Launch Escape System was the portion of the Lunar Module that splashed safely down in the Pacific Ocean on July 24.
This kit reproduces the Colombia at the time of launch, with the lunar lander stored inside the conical command ship; the Launch Escape System is on the tip of the command ship. The surface details and docking probe assembly on the command ship's tip, the reaction control thruster, the engine nozzle and more are all reproduced with painstaking care. The Lunar Module's complex and unique shape is also accurately reproduced, as are the landing gear and various antennas folded up for landing. Transparent parts are included for the cover parts, so you can see the Lunar Lander even after completion. This kit is something no fan of space exploration should be without -- place your order today!
