This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
The USS Missouri (BB-63) was the third ship of the Iowa-class battleships, named after the 24th state of the United States. It was the fourth ship to bear the name Missouri.
Margaret Truman, daughter of then-President Harry S. Truman, who was from Missouri, named the ship.
Launched in 1944, Missouri was the 63rd and final battleship built for the U.S. Navy. During World War II, it participated in battles such as the Battle of Okinawa, and on September 2, 1945, the Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed on its deck.
After the war, Missouri was decommissioned in 1955 following its involvement in the Korean War of the 1950s. In 1986, it was recommissioned with the addition of modern weaponry and electronic systems, including BGM-109 Tomahawk missiles, Harpoon missiles, and the Phalanx CIWS.
After taking part in the Gulf War in 1991, Missouri was decommissioned again in 1992. Since 1999, it has been preserved as a memorial ship at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
