Description
This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.
Yamato was the first of the Yamato-class battleships built by the Imperial Japanese Navy, and along with the second ship, Musashi, it was the largest and only super-dreadnought battleship ever equipped with a 46cm gun.
Yamato was commissioned in December 1941, just after the outbreak of the Pacific War, and became the flagship of the Combined Fleet in February 1942.
Its first battle was in Operation Midway in June 1942, and it participated in Operation Kon and the Battle of the Mariana Islands in June 1944, and in October of the same year, it fired its 46cm main guns at the American escort carrier force in Operation Sho-Ichi-Go.
In April 1945, it set out for Okinawa in Operation Ten-Ichi-Go, but was sunk in an air raid by the US military.
