Among the German tanks of World War II, the Panzer IV series filled the role of main battle tank. It was planned as a support tank, and the relatively generous body design was successful in responding to various capacity improvements; many types were created until the end of the war, and were used in various places.The D type is the first mass-produced type of the many Panzer IV tanks; from October 1939 to May 1941, more than 200 were produced. The body and turret had a linear design, and the main gun was a short-barreled 7.5cm tank gun KwK37/L24. It was also characterized by the increased armor thickness on the sides and rear of the hull. Starting with the invasion of France, it was active on a wide range of fronts, including the North African Campaign and the Eastern Front.
