Description

This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.

The Tiger I heavy tank, developed by Germany during World War II, began production in 1942 and continued until August 1944. During that, the total amount of tanks built was only about 1,300, but improvements and renovations continued, and there were minor difference in specifications. The 88mm gun, which boasted overwhelming power as an anti-tank gun, competed with the Allied Forces and Soviet tanks, which featured heavy armor. The Tiger I carried 100mm-thick front armor to protect from Allied attacks; it was well-respected by the Allies until the end of the war. At first it was sent to the Eastern Front, which was struggling with heavy Soviet tanks; after that it was dispatched to the German-African Army on the North African Front. The 501st Heavy Tank Battalion, formed in May 1942, was the first unit equipped with the Tiger I; they received 20 of the Tiger I and 16 of the III tanks. It fought on the North African Front starting in November 1942, fighting against British and American troops in Tunisia until May 1943.

This model kit from Dragon reproduces the characteristics of the early-production type Tiger I in high detail. Equipped with a pistol port, the turret with Gepeck Kasten attached to the rear, and the bent front fender firmly reproduces the features of this very early production type. The shape and details of the turret body parts, shield, Gepeck Kasten and more are accurately reproduced with a new mold. In addition, Magic Tracks are included for ease of assembly; the early road wheel parts will enhance its appearance of reality. New parts are also added to the rear panel and upper part of the hull. Photo-etched parts are included, as are decals for the 501st Heavy Tank Squadron. This kit is indispensable for your Tiger I lineup -- place your order today!
