This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The US M47 Patton was the last tank designed based on WWII-era technical specifications. It carried no sophisticated electronics, such as a fire control unit, which became standard equipment on tank designs which followed. Still, it was a powerful tank with its 90mm gun and was designed to counter the threat from Russian heavy tanks like the JS-3. Basically a stop-gap design between the M46 and M48 Pattons, the M47 had a brief service life with the US Army, but European NATO countries and other US allies employed the M47 widely from the early 1950s.
Although Italeri's M47 kit was tooled in the 1970s, it is sharply molded and highly detailed. Tracks are of the rubber belt type. Included are one figure and decals for various NATO armies.
NOTE: The model here shows the Italeri kit slightly modified to represent "Col. Hessler's King Tiger" from the 1965 film "Battle of the Bulge." The kit does not include the "Hessler" figure or the decals as shown.
