The Mohicans are a Native American tribe belonging to the Algonquian language family. They lived in New York State, and lived by hunting and fishing. In the 18th century, many Mohicans lost their lives due to plagues such as smallpox brought by white settlers and battles, but they still live as Stockbridge Mohicans on a reservation.
